Plasma Cytokine Levels and Cytokine Genetic Polymorphisms in Patients with Metastatic Breast Cancer Receiving High-Dose Chemotherapy

چکیده
Differences in the baseline levels of serum cytokines or single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) cytokine genes may be useful to predict outcomes for patients being treated metastatic breast cancer. We have measured plasma and characterized individual SNPs IL-1RA, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-6 TNFα 130 with cancer high-dose chemotherapy. Patients were cyclophosphamide (Group 1, 74 patients) paclitaxel-containing regimens 2, 56 patients). A high level IL-1RA a SNP gene indicated better prognosis Group 1 (but not 2). However, did correlate genotype. poorer outcome although genotypes associated differences outcome. The IL-1β IL-2 genotype indicate Although, individually, “risk” outcome, combination there was an increased trend but paclitaxel. These results suggest that immune as prognostic biomarkers treatment different types

Cytokine Gene Polymorphisms in Iranian Patients with Beta-Thalassemia Major
Background: β-thalassemia as a hereditary disease is defined as defective synthesis of β-globin chains, resulting in erythropoiesis abnormalities and severe anemia. Different studies have shown that cytokines and cytokine gene polymorphisms play a major role in the pathogenesis of β-thalassemia. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within the promoter region or other regulatory sequences ...
متن کاملEvaluation of the circulating levels of IL-12 and IL-33 in patients with breast cancer: influences of the tumor stages and cytokine gene polymorphisms
Objective(s):IL-12 as an anti-tumor cytokine and IL-33 a novel identified cytokine with both pro- or anti-tumor activities, play important roles in response against tumor cells. Our aim was to evaluate the IL-12 and IL-33 levels and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in their genes in patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods:Blood samples were collected from 100 patients with breas...
متن کاملCytokine genetic variations and fatigue among patients with breast cancer.
PURPOSE Fatigue is a common adverse effect of cancer treatment and may persist for years after treatment completion. However, risk factors for post-treatment fatigue have not been determined. On the basis of studies suggesting an inflammatory basis for fatigue, this study tested the hypothesis that expression-regulating polymorphisms in proinflammatory cytokine genes would predict post-treatmen...
متن کاملCytokine genetic polymorphisms and prostate cancer aggressiveness.
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancers in the world. Inflammation has been described as a risk factor for PCa and depends on the production of cytokines in response to tissue damage or the presence of stimuli that induces cellular stress. Interindividual variation in cytokine production is partially controlled by single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that have been associated ...
متن کاملNonlinear pharmacokinetics of cyclophosphamide in patients with metastatic breast cancer receiving high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous bone marrow transplantation.
The pharmacokinetics of cyclophosphamide has been evaluated in 15 patients with metastatic breast cancer undergoing high-dose chemotherapy with alkylating agents followed by autologous bone marrow transplantation. Each patient received two courses of chemotherapy: 4 g/m2 of cyclophosphamide by 90-min infusion prior to peripheral blood progenitor cell collection (the first course) and 6 g/m2 of ...
